Some Junkie Cosmonaut: knbwhite: 433: Some Junkie Cosmonaut: Final Cut is mostly just uneven as hell is the problem. A lot of it is ehh Roger being Roger - and then you come up with things like The Gunner's Dream which is imo some of his best work.
It's the first album with out Syd Barret. For some reason I started playing it at the beginning of the pandemic and have really grow to like it.įinal Cut is mostly just uneven as hell is the problem. I don't even consider it a Pink Floyd album. Sounds exactly the same if you substitute Clapton for Gilmour so you get two grumpy angry Brits instead of just the one!įinal Cut is a complete mess.
I mean, all I knew of The Wall or Pink Floyd was "we don't need no education." But I'm always up for watching a movie.įinal Cut is basically the same album as Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking. Mcmnky: Around 14 or 15 my friend called me up saying he had rented The Wall and did I want to come over to watch it? I sure did. How FC is above More and Obscured is nuts. TFA is fine, but the ranking of albums after it is insane. Was there some other Pink Floyd? Did someone record a different band on a PF tape and slip it into the rack? This couldn't be the same band. At the time I thought it must be a joke or a mistake. That was love at first listen.Īnd then there's Final Cut. I didn't know quite what I was listening to, but I was going to keep listening until I figured it out.ĭSOTM, nothing to add there. At that point I hadn't even had a sip of beer, let alone smoked or dropped or shot up anything. For me it was like when you're a little kid and you see a sexy person, and you're enraptured but you don't know why. Nice intro to acid rock, not like the concept album Floyd of DSOTM, WYWH, and Animals. Relics is a compilation of Barrett-era songs. I walk out with Relics, DSOTM, and Final Cut. The next day after watching The Wall I go to the record store and buy whatever PF they have. Instant fan and been a fan of the band ever since. I mean, all I knew of The Wall or Pink Floyd was "we don't need no education." But I'm always up for watching a movie.

Waters conceived the album during Pink Floyd’s 1977 In the Flesh Tour, when his frustration with the audience became so acute that he imagined a wall between the audience and the stage. It is a rock opera that follows Pink, a character whom Waters modelled after himself and the band’s original leader, Syd Barrett. As with Pink Floyd’s prior three albums, The Wall is a concept album, exploring themes of abandonment and personal isolation. It is the last studio album released with the line-up of guitarist David Gilmour, bass guitarist/lyricist Roger Waters, keyboardist Richard Wright, and drummer Nick Mason before Wright left the band. The Wall is the 11th studio album by Pink Floyd, originally released in November 1979. Remastered from the original analogue tapes by James Guthrie, Joel Plante, and Bernie Grundman.
